Finding My Strength: How Lady Sentinel Turned a Solo Journey Into a Sisterhood

Before joining Lady Sentinel, my firearms journey was mostly a solo one. I took private lessons and spent time practicing at the range by myself. For me, shooting was something I enjoyed independently — you don’t necessarily need a partner to improve your skills, and that was exactly what I was looking for at the time.

Everything changed when I met a friend who introduced me to Lady Sentinel. What I expected to be another opportunity to train turned into so much more. I found an incredible community of women who encourage and support one another. Through Lady Sentinel, I’ve made meaningful friendships, learned new skills, and participated in activities I never imagined I’d enjoy. Being part of this group has given me confidence — not only in handling firearms, but in the way I carry myself in everyday life.

Life Beyond the Range

When I’m not at Lady Sentinel, I like to stay active with a variety of hobbies. Despite having very few days off, I make time to play pickleball with an all-women’s group called the “Court Queens.” Last year, I played in a women’s league, and I absolutely loved the experience.

I also practice Taekwondo and have been training for nearly three years. If everything goes as planned, I’ll earn my black belt this November — a milestone I’m incredibly excited about. More recently, I started learning archery. It’s definitely more challenging than shooting a firearm, but that’s part of what makes it so rewarding. It’s teaching me patience and showing me that I need to build more arm strength to improve.

Why Confidence Matters

To me, confidence is one of the most important qualities a woman can have. While society continues striving for greater equality between men and women, believing in yourself can make all the difference. Confidence grows every time you accomplish something new or improve a skill you’ve worked hard to develop. When you truly believe in yourself and maintain a positive mindset, that energy naturally spreads to the people around you. Confidence isn’t just about what you can do — it’s about knowing your own worth.

Strength Doesn’t Always Look the Way People Expect

One thing that often surprises people about me is my love for activities like shooting sports and martial arts. Most people see me as a sweet, soft-spoken woman who dresses very femininely and is always smiling. Because of that, they’re often shocked to learn how much I enjoy challenging, physically demanding activities. I think it’s a great reminder that strength doesn’t always look the way people expect it to.

My Message to Every Woman Considering This Path

If I could encourage another woman who’s nervous about joining Lady Sentinel or trying something new, I’d tell her not to let fear stop her. I’ve actually encouraged several women to join already! Lady Sentinel is much more than a shooting group — it’s a community where women support one another. We learn together, train together, laugh together, and celebrate each other’s growth.

Whether you’re completely new to firearms or simply looking for a welcoming group of strong, supportive women, you’ll find a place here. Sometimes, taking that first step is all it takes to discover a confidence you never knew you had.
